And these three are the Mothers for they are Creators, and by these symbols are the foundations of this reality created.

Yea, and these three are the very foundations of the whole, keep them in thy hands, for in them is the mystery and they who have them are given power over fire, water, and air: The male of them and the female of them, which is to say the giving of them and the receiving of them.
